Does anyone know what the term re-ranking actually means in 07? and also when is it likely to happen? Thanks

From my experience it happens around Christmas, between December and January depending of course which league you play in. If you play, say in Sweden, the re-ranking happens during the summer, in England it should be near Christmas/New Year.

What it means is that basically you have to approach every game differently from what you´ve done before.

There is much confusion on this issue which I will try to clear up.

Each team has a reputation and this is used thoughout the game to determine thinks like who will sign for you and how other teams will play against you. As the season progresses this value will increase or decrease by very small amounts when you win or loose games. The bigger the odds the bigger the increase for the win. You get a re-rank at the end of the season which will change based on how well you have done compared to how you were expected to do.

However, when people talk about re-ranking, it isn't really re-ranking it is a bug in the AI that lowers all AI teams mentalities making them play very cautious. This usually take half a season to reach critical mass.

You problem is most likely to be related to this issue and not reranking in the tradtional sense.

Thanks for the reply. Do you think half way through the season i should change the way i play or just become more attacking because the ai mentality will be defensive?

Difficult one. This is the way to go, however it is frustrating because if they have fast strikers they will kill you on the break.

However sitting back against the AI is doomed to fail.

Also, in terms of a players temperament, is 20 good and 1 bad or the other way round?

I usually do the other way around. I play a little more defensive and use counter attack. It seems to confuse AI and I win most games in this period. Actually, I think it is not a bug, but rather attempt (maybe not well developed) to model some sort of "form cycle", which we can see irl. Though irl different teams have some problems in different season periods. Or, it may be related to trainning schedule. If we assume that all teams are on general trainning settings, then they should experience the same form fluctuations. Would be interesting to test though.
