I bought Guilherme last season during the January transfer window as a replacement for Shorey who moved for £17.5M to Portsmouth. I didn't particularly want to loose Shorey, but the chairman couldn't resist that sort of money, and to be fair, neither could I. So in came Guilherme and did well, getting an avg. rating of 7.15 in the 13 appearances he made that season. Forward to the next season and it is yet again the January transfer window, and although he has been playing well, I haven't been especially blown away by his performances, managing 7.17 in 24 appearances and 4 assists. Imagine my shock then, when Arsenal come in offering £11.75M! I still believe he has bags of potential though, so thought I'd be clever and up the price to £30M... They responded with a £30M offer!
He still has bags of potential and can develope more as a player, but surely £30M is crazy money for this sort of player? Two questions really:
1) Should I accept this rediculous sum of money?
and
2) If I do accept, who should I get in as a replacement for him? Will need to be more a wing-back as I play 4-1-3-2 with the full backs getting forward to provide width and crosses to my strikers.

08/09 Season, hes only had a year at the club!
He plays at DL. My other defenders include Cassini, Ratinho and Rosenior, so in theory I could play Ratinho as DR and Cassini as DL, with Rosenior as a backup, and then get a better backup in the summer. That is a consideration of mine. I am currently toying with the consideration of whetehr I need fast attacking full backs or whether more standard ones would work better, as Cassini isn't exactly attacking, and has struggled a bit, although he got injured for 4 months after his £8.5M move.

I'll take a look at Clerc and Grosso. Quite a fan of Lyon aren't ya?
My only problem may be the clubs reputation, as I only managed to finish 13th last season, although I am in Europe through the League cup. This season I am sitting happily around 8-9th place come January.
What is Chiellini like? Not sure if I could tempt him, but if I threw some crazy money at him he may consider it?
Any other suggestions? Preferably young, as I am trying to mould a young Arsenal-esq squad who will dominate in a few years and dominate for years to come. Already having offers of £20M+ for Breno, but he's going nowhere for now.

What about Wayne Bridge? Does he perform well? He's 28 in my game, so a little old, but he can definately fill the space and has good stats. Should be able to get him as he isn't first choice at chelsea.

Or even Leighton Baines for that fact? He's quite young too.

I was looking at Taiwo in fact. Does look very good. I shall see what sort of price he commands and see what my chances are of agreeing terms with Bridge also.
