Season 2107/18 Conference North, Lincoln City
Players in- 7 for $850K. Players out- 10 for $775K.
This was the season we really should have had last year. After a few draws at the start, we kicked into gear after 5 or 6 matches and never looked back. The back four and a new keeper conceded just 15 in all 42 league matches, while up front Young Striker from PSNI had recovered from his broken pelvis to net 17 goals in 40 games. Alongside him was a personal career record $500K signing, a striker who came through with 12 goals in 24 matches, combining really well with Young Striker. I also signed an ageing Ivory Coast international midfielder as a player-coach, and he played absolutely brilliantly for half a season before retiring.
A $600K windfall during the season for a sell-on clause allowed me dip even further into the shortlist and secure some decent cover for a couple of defensive positions. I think it took me last season to get used to the idea of spending money for players (somewhat of a novelty).
The only downside was taking only 4 of 6 points from Gainsborough, who finished in 7th spot. PSNI finished 8th in Northern Ireland Div 1, a record high for the club.

Next season I’ll be gunning for consecutive promotions and don’t foresee too many hitches to that plan, with a couple of decent signings over summer.
