It's one thing to play your individual game however you like, it's another for the game's makers to go completely against the ethos of a realistic-type experience by not only making available, but encouraging through a headline on the front page of their site.
It's all getting worryingly EA-like for my tastes. How long before we get "classic" lineups available, or dispense of transfer fees entirely and have just a fantasy squad?

My point is this: if you want a game that's not got a foothold in realistic-type play, then play such a game. You can't market a game as being a realistic experience and then add layers of complete and total fantasy - you should make a separate one.
If Sid Meier had put all the space units and alien concepts that appeared in Alpha Centauri into Civilization, it would have been ridiculous. This is the same thing.
