Personally, I feel that it is realistic to look at the leaders in goals and assists for leagues within your own country. There are very few countries for which this information is not readily available from the leagues themselves, through weekly press releases, and via the web and through newspapers.

But looking at average match ratings, or other statistics like passing and shots on target is unrealistic, because this information is only available for the top leagues in the world, like the Premiership or Serie A.

I dont feel silly, wimbledon were never a tiny club and they had a massive money invester and rich chairman, and I will keep to its silly that with vauxhall motors they go on and win the champions league?? wateva, its impossible unless you did have a millionaire come in or you moved to a giant stadium, but these people who get there team in the premier with back to back promotions every season must get bored or feel silly cos it is impossible without certain factors!!

Wimbledon were consistently constrained by a crappy stadium (Plough Lane) that they couldn't expand/redevelop and famously paid the lowest wages in the top flight by a country mile.

Sounds just like getting a non-league team to the EPL on FM if you ask me.

Wimbledon are a classic case of 'What would have happened?' If memory serves, they were 6th in the Premier League when Kinnear had his coronary.

Their rise through the leagues was mainly down to having a couple of very astute managers who made the most of playets who weren't always very good. Their plummet back from whence they came risks obscuring the fact that their FA Cup efforts would have qualified them for Europe 10 years after they reached Wembley.

Hell, I can remember being pleased when Swindon reached the Premier League. They certainly didn't have a millionaire backer. The County Ground will be hosting League 2 football next season at this rate.

Good managers move Lower League sides up through the leagues. Bad/Average ones move them back down again.

It's impossible for a lower league club to rise through the leagues and into Premier. But. It is possible for Joe Nobody to be appointed boss of one the world's largest club.

I brought thru *Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee* for leyton orient and both of them are on FM, as is *Muddy Waters* who played for me as a 12 yr old!

I agree that with great coaching,the correct structure and great management and some money and fan base a tiny team could maybe get to league 2 or 1, and then it would take stadium expansion and other factors and they in the LONG run could get to the premier but neva win it at 1st attempt and then win champions league??
