I really doubt that your lack of promotion is due to the way SI coded the game. The fact you aren't going into the cup is something that could be looked at, though.

Not bragging mate, just pointing out that promotion is possible, and it's not some sort of bug in Spain

Especially when you consider it was your first post in LLM and your only previous one is in GPG.

This should have been titled "The Games Too Bloody Hard - I Can't Win :moan:"

Despite your justification, Greg, you can't say the game is biaised/rigged/cheats. It is coded as realistically as the technology/resources/programmers talent allows. The match engine can be improved and is done so on a regular (ie yearly plus patches) basis, however, to imagine that it is designed to make you lose is just nuts. :kris3:

I have not said that the game is biased/rigged/cheats. I have absolutely NOT said that the game is designed to make you lose, and I find it insulting that people would even suggest that I made such a claim. I'm suggesting that SI may believe that big clubs have an advantage in cup competitions, and SI may have actually programmed the game to reflect this. And, so, it gives too much of a benefit to clubs with larger reputations in playoff competition. I think it's a matter of opinion and how the game is programmed, NOT a matter of a conspiracy or the game somehow making me lose.

Contrary to what people might claim here, this is not a moan. It's simply a statement from me that I find Spain to be unplayable compared to other leagues, because it is the one country where the cup competition clearly has a major bug that hurts the human-controlled manager. It's also one of the few countries where promotion rests solely on playoff results, and this is a problem because the game seems to generate wild swings in performance in the playoffs.

There is not enough consistency in match results between the promotion playoffs and the regular season, and I've seen this just as much with AI controlled clubs as my own. I can't tell you how many times I've seen an AI-controlled club dominate and destroy everything in its path for an entire season, only to play like amateurs and crash out in the promotion playoffs. It's understandable that it happens on occasion, but it happened with at least a couple of clubs in every season of my saved game, and it happened in my saved game before that one as well.

From my own experience, it was damn tough to get out of B4, took me until 2011/12.

That make have been before the 6.0.3 patch came out though.

I did some research on the Copa del Rey and Lanzarote when I started my save (damn January transfer window!) and it seems they did make some progress a few years back (beating Athletico Madrid in the 1st leg of a fairly advanced round), but I am sure Jordi could let us know the last time a side from that level had a significant cup run!
