I was going to make a comment on this earlier in the day, but the crappy NHS network I have to put up with while I'm at work (or at least pretending to work) meant it took too long.

Anyway, I've been keeping track on GK average ratings over the seasons. The results go largely as follows (format: GK average against me; GK average over the season):

2010/11: 6.90; 6.90
2011/12: 6.40; 6.78
2012/13: 6.93; 6.90
2013/14: 6.97; 6.91
2014/15; 6.63; 6.46

As you can hopefully see, there are 2 seasons where the goalkeepers play significantly better or worse against my team than against other teams in general. When they played worse, we got promoted; when they played better, however, we really struggled until the end of the season.

Hopefully, this shows that there are definite AI trends when it comes to results going for or against my team.

For the record, out of 121 games, my goalkeepers received 3 MoM awards. In the same period, opposition keepers notched up 10 MoMs.

Maybe I'm wrong in how player ratings are figured, but all this really shows is that in a year that your squad was better than the league (the year your got promoted)you made the opposing keepsers look worse, and therefore get lower ratings.

The inverse is true, when your team was worse they got better ratings against you. I would assume in the other seasons you finished mid-table or so?

Granted, I could be wrong in how ratings are figured, but I would assume if a keeper lets in goals his rating goes down?

To be honest, as Rossmac, Ian, Dr Hook and others will attest to, SuperKeepers just aren't believable for anyone who hasn't witnessed it first-hand.

Those of us who have experienced it, however, will know the pain of double- and triple-saves. We will know every line of commentary that mentions "brilliant save" and "fine save" (hell, for that matter, I know all the commentary for shots hitting the woodwork) by heart. We will also be acutely aware of just when exactly we can expect our own keepers to concede a goal.

Above all else, though, we will know all too well how jammy the rest of you bastards are who have never known the pain.

(...he held it too!)

If you play a match and the GK gets a 9 or 10, it happens, just like IRL where GK's have days in wich they are briljant and hold every shot. If it's happening 3, 4, 5, 6 times in a row then you can complain about superkeepers.

Superkeepers don't exist, period. Yes, I had GK's who played very good against my team, it happens.

I've never seen a superkeeper in nearly a decade of playing CM and FM. Sure, there are times when a keeper seems to save everything, and it's looking like he will be unbeatable. But if your club is truly dominating the match and generating good chances, you will always score unless your strikers are in a slump, they have poor morale, or your tactics are set incorrectly.

I've learned to recognize when a striker simply doesn't have it on the day, or when he has finally hit a slump. Then I bring on a substitute and usually let my backups have a run for a couple of games. They may not do much better, but at least I know that it will be down to their natural inability and not a problem with morale, slumping, etc.

I would estimate that 99% of the superkeeper complaints come from human managers that never want to rotate their strikers and never give anyone a rest. They see their stikers generate 15 shots and go without a goal, and then they keep bringing those same strikers out for five more games, all with similar results. What a surprise.
