Well I won the playoff semi-finals 5-1 on aggregate. Then won the suck @ss cup (for the second year in a row and had to save the game at that point with just one game left to play in the season… The Playoff finals.

I completely blame this failure on Elrawkum . My backup keeper read the thread after we smashed 5 past Cambridge and told the rest of the team, complacency set in.

In the post match team talk I could not find the option to “Ignore what Elrawkum said we still have two matches to play!”

I haven’t played the final yet.... Kickoff is scheduled for tonight about 7pm EST that’s midnight over there… The wife summoned me to bed :eek: so I had to save the game with just the playoffs to go!

Elrawkum, thanks for being the scape goat, it obviously wasn’t my fault or the teams fault that we choked.

My boys kick the sh;t out of Cambridge 5-0… My backup keeper reads the thread told the rest of the team that Elrawkum said promotion was certain and the team got complacent and only managed a draw in the next match and lost the final match of the season….

Strangely my “Ability to handle pressure” didn’t take a nose dive as the team bottled the last two games.

Picked up some more good players although this time I had to part with some not too hard earned cash for them. Well we started the league in superb form. Undefeated for our first 19 odd games and the entire division was propping us up. A disasterous run of 3 successive league defeats and not able to manage a win in 5 matches saw our players shell shocked and we fell to 5th in the league. I couldn’t have asked for better timing along comes a cup competition against weaker opposition. I believe our biggest victory prior to this was a 5-0. Well by half time in the suck as cup we were 6-0 ahead, We continue play attacking football in the second half and bagged 5 more. 11-0 was the final score and the most surprising aspect of this was that nobody got a hattrick!! A subsequent victory in our next league encounter and we were back on track.

A very tight finish at the end of the season saw us finish one point shy of the leaders. Playoff semifinal was a breeze 5-1 on agrigate. The final was a tight affair. We took an early lead but Woking pegged us back. We scored a second for Woking once again to draw level. Well in the last minute of normal time a sloppy back pass was intercepted by my forward who coolly slotted it home from a good 40 yards out! Woking didn’t have time to get back at us and we were promoted!!

Fans’ favourite for the year was surprise surprise a striker again, this time it was on of the accusation I made mast summer. In the league he played 43 times scoring 19 goals 21 assists and had 4 man of the match performances averaging 7.29 for the year.

Note Just starting my preseason friendlies and clicked on Get team report to get my ass mans assessment of the team. Poor chap is not very optimistic He believes the “Basingstoke have absolutely no hope of avoiding relegation unless the team is strengthened in every department” – I guess I won’t have him doing the morale boosting team talks.
