@Guinness. I havent thought about it that way and can see your point. Just keep in mind that the countries selected not neccessary has alot of players. What do ppl normally do when selecting a LLM game? Which leagues do they add.. or not add? Any rules on this?

A question for you. If your randomly selected countries included Jamaica and St Kitts & Nevis, would you keep sending a scout to the Caribbean to see who would come up?

As far as deciding what leagues to add, from my perspective it depends on a huge number of factors, the importance of which vary for each individual Llama.

I tend to load all the divisions of the league I am starting in together with all divisions of England. I used to load all the scottish leagues too, but that makes gameplay too slow for me.

Yes. I would send the scouts to the countries I have selected. That's where the players will be, ergo the place to look. Be aware though, that the 5 basic countries are countries I can play in. e.g. St Kitts isnt playable as other countries are.

I have a game running atm. with this setup:

5 basic countries with full detail:
- China
- South Korea
- Germany
- Switzerland
- Chile

Added players from 5 countries:
- Cameroon
- Denmark
- French Guyana
- Japan
- Uganda

The randomness selected Arica in Chile as my team. Where it otherwise will bring me in the future, I have no idea. I like the idea that the team I could go to next, isnt your typical major club (besides clubs in Germany that is).

The 5 (or whatever number you want) basic countries will always give a full amount of players, but if you dont select countries you normally select, then there is an aspect to the playermaterial you dont usually get.

My approach to it was not to know what kind of playermaterial I could expect. If you load the players from the same league everytime, then where is the surprise? Where it the challenge when you know what to expect?
I dont say my way is the right way - I have played the same way as you, just with the danish league selected everytime. I just found it more challenging if I didnt know what to expect.

True. But as I wrote to wewak, it can be used for LLaMa aswell. You simply skip the step of selecting league or count the leagues not acceptable out.

It seems a perfectly acceptable random way of selecting the leagues to load, as long as a team in the lowest league for the selected country is used.

I have never been a fan of loading players from other countries although in a few games I wish I had, as managing a country in a non-selected league, in 2020, seems a tad difficult as there are few players to choose.

The idea of sending scouts to the countries where players are loaded is not something that I would do, as this negates our SWYCT and SYB guidelines. In the event of your team reaching such giddy heights as to merit sending scouts on long extended trips, then these players will be picked up naturally.

Mikael, we are not necessarily hostile but the way we play tends to be by rules and guidelines that have evolved over a fair length of time and we stick to them. Suggestions that we should agree that someone has an improvement to our guildelines is not normally met with a lot of favour.

I usually go for countries that have historical links with the one I'm starting and then one or two I fancy managing in in the long run.

@Church. Thanks for a good reply :thup: . After I have read the rules more closely, I can see how this way of playing clashes with them in some areas. If I alter it a bit, I think I can get it to follow the LLM-rules better. I have always been unsure on how the whole getting-players-system worked, and I guess I should have searched for it more before venting my idea.

I just wished ppl would be more openminded to new ideas. I felt kinda gutted by the comments made here. As long as the selection of team and the gameplay follows the LLM-rules I cannot see why it is so bad to others.

I will read up on the whole scouting-players-thingy and finetune my random way of play..
