Nice cup of tea and a sit down should do it. And please stop cheating, Hogie. You are really giving the 'in crowd' a bad name |

I wish Ashington success in their releation battle. | For BG (although he'll probably already know this), Ashington won their relegation battle on merit by a point over Shildon and Horden, but it's Thornaby who will be relegated due to their ground not being up to scratch. This was decided about three weeks ago and Thornaby haven't lodged an appeal (they were thinking about groundsharing to get around their problem) and so are going down.
With regards to Ashington, the latest story is that we will still be at Portland Park until January, as building plans have been delayed for the site. So we're at least going to start our 100th year at the ground, although we're unlikely to finish it there.

Gretna in the UEFA Cup then. Really LLM aren't they. Millions to spend, Europe within two years. Even GPG morons would find them too easy.

I feel more generous toward Gretna than that - they did start of LL and do provide inspiration to FM LLaMas IMO.
For the ultimate LL disaster however, look at the misfortunes of my pet side. Managing East Stirling I always arrange a final pre-season friendly against Highland league Fort William, just so the commentator can say, "Fort William have a mountain to climb". And IRL they do - until this weekend they had a glorious ONE POINT. They ruined their record by chalking up a last minute victory but still, how poor is that!
BTW I'll be reporting on my Shire career soonish. |

That was until non league's version of Roman Abramovich came along and moved them into the Scottish League.

Only one former Aberdeen player cost Gretna any money, the rest have been free transfers and the like, so IMO Brookes Mileson can hardly be compared to Abramovich.
As LLaMas we should be happy that a little team has achived something. we should not grudge them success. Goonie type speech over. |

Comparing Mileson to Abramovich is a bit like comparing Gandhi to Attila the ***.
Mileson has given millions to football Clubs at lower league levels, over 70 in all. He's President of Whitby Town and a sponsor of the Northern League.
He's donated money to the Dundee United trust and to Berwick Rangers trust.
He pays for local (to Dumfries) kids to attend Gretna games and it's reckoned he's bought over half of Gretna's allocation of Cup Final tickets to give to locals as well. Gretna has a population of 2700 and they've sold over 6000 tickets to the final.
Mileson funds youth coaching in the surrounding area and has taken great steps to make Gretna self-funding.
Gretna are the only professional Club in a wide area of the Borders and it's a good catchment area for players, he's taken that into consideration as well.
Like Abramovich he's a millionaire, like Abramovich he's a football fan, but he uses his millions to benefit a wide swathe of Clubs, not just one in London.
...and, I may be wrong here, but I believe they'd been accepted into the Scottish League before Mileson became involved with them.
