I've had a good game with Lewes in the save I'm playing now (I've moved onto pastures new though). Got them to League 2 and the board were only too happy to oblige when I asked for an expansion on the stadium. I've actually visited the Dripping Pan many a moon ago. It's a hole in the ground, hence the 'pan' bit. I saw them in the Ryman 3rd or equivalent back in the 90s. There was one stand and 3 grass banks. Paying for entry was optional as there was no way to stop people coming and sitting on the open grass banks. It may have changed now.

First thread I've read today by someone not looking for the 'Idiot of the Day' award.

Cheers guys, thanks for the welcome and comments!

I guess the Dripping Pan must have seen some serious improvement just to get the ground up to ECS standards, but I see that Lewes this year IRL are having to forego their playoff spot as it's still short of the Conference National requirements. Rightly or wrongly I always feel a sense of sporting injustice when this happens, like when Dag & Red, Stevenage were denied promotion to the Football League from the Conference in the late 90s I think.

Lewes had to do that last season as well. Shame, I enjoyed my time there in FM05 and hoped they would progress to the Conference in real life.

Welcome by the way.

Found a couple of websites with pics of the Lewes ground:

As it was when I was there, but a rubbish picture

As it is now. They built one new stand and took 3 pictures of it!

Apparently the stand that looks like a horse stables is being rebuilt this summer.

The planning application for the redevelopment has just been turned down by Lewes District Council. Apparently the wall along the back runs along the same line as an older wall whihc hasn't been there for 500 years but the line itself is of great archaeological interest.

Honestly it's a wonder anything gets built in this country.

So that means Lewes are ****ed unless they can get a new ground?

I don't know, I think they mey get their planning permission in the end but Lewes District Council are tits and seem to have a grudge against football fans as they are also currently holding up Brightons new ground. However if Lewes FC can't get planning permission for the ground improvements I think thats it for them and Conference South is as high as they'll get. I can't see them having the funds for a new ground and most clubs who go down that route at Lewes level need the full support of the council which they obviously won't give in this case.
