A while back I decided to quit my Yeading/Ejido game, mostly because of a couple of very frustrating bugs, resulting I suspect, from the game being started in 6.0 and patched all the way through to 6.0.3, severely reducing my enjoyment of the save.
I’m playing with a large database, got all the Scandinavian leagues loaded up, plus English L2 & above and a selection of European countries. After a brief chat with Frank I took over the reigns at Falu who play their football in the Swedish Second Division North-Svealand.
2005
When I started I was pleasantly surprised to find that we had a fairly competent backroom staff already in place, sadly the same could not be said for the playing staff and my scouts were forced to earn their £20/week. We managed to bring in a few new faces, of varying quality, before the big kick off, but not a single player would come to us on loan. We started off indifferently, playing well on occasion but lacking that bit of quality to really push on from mid-table.
After a bit of tactical tweaking and a couple of new signings in July we start to click, being the only side to beat runaway league winners Enkogings SK the whole season. Come September we are strong contenders and with even our shot shy strikers starting to find the net we secure 4th place and promotion out of the 2nd division.
Finished: 4th – 34 pts P
Swedish cup: 2nd R (lost 0-1 to Gelfe)
The first season of the new 3rd tier of Swedish football sees us entered in the 1st division north, the board and fans don’t have a lot of faith in us, possibly because we are skint, strongly tipped for relegation and all but 3 or 4 of our players might as well have ‘Not Good Enough’ stamped across their foreheads. I sell our best player and club captain before the season starts, to ease the financial pressures but struggle to attract anyone decent to the club. We make a very poor start to the season and it doesn’t get much better, an embarrassing exit in the cup and a lack of goals in the league sees us at the wrong end of the table.
I bring in several players in July, including some promising youngsters, who give us the kick up the backside we need and produce a 13 game unbeaten run, only ended by high-flyers Vasby. We tail off after this but we do enough to ensure 1st division football next year at Kopparvallen.
England win the world cup in Germany.

Following Sweden’s rather poor showing in the world cup the entire management team is sacked and I’m offered the U-21 role, I decide to turn it down as I feel it’s a little unrealistic, and in any case, I wouldn’t know how to manage good players! Due to the vagaries of promotion and relegation we find ourselves playing in the 1st division south this year, well at least it’ll be warmer! A few new faces come in to raise the quality of our squad and we embark on a solid but unspectacular season, we are fairly tight at the back but lacking up front, finishing a respectable 6th.
At the end of the season we find ourselves 180k in the red, in part due to our high wage bill, but mostly due to our poor attendances, we struggle to get 250 bums on seats for our home games. While we address the first problem by moving a lot of players on in the winter, I really can’t see a solution to the second one.
