Ok, bit of background - FM08 (patched) - season 08-09.

I wasn't good enough for Connahs Quay Nomads in the Welsh Prem, I had to make do with Sutton Utd in Blue Square South... sigh.

Anyway, I landed a QPR defender on loan - valued at £8k... the fans hated him from the off although I thought he was decent enough.
I was even considering putting a bid in for him until he made two mistakes that effectively put us out of the Setanta Cup...
Kicked the guy off the team coach somewhere outside Barnet and left him apologising to a cloud of exhaust fumes!

Wierdly, his return to Loftus Road immediately sparked a bidding war with this jobber valued at £120,000k!!!!

Is this an automatically assigned value...? or could I potentially slap a hugely inflated price on a half-decent player, sell him (hopefully) and get my balance into the black for once?

I can fully understand & in some part agree with the valuation, I assume the lad is English which added to that fact he is contracted to a Championship club would easily see the bidding start at around £100k. Some team are just in dire need of a particular player & might be willing to overlook his poor form with yourself.

Fair point - I just can't get my head around the fact that a player worth 8 grand suddenly sells for 120,000 after a string of 6/7-rated performances.

To me it seems like a pretty large jump in price that I couldn't see real-world teams getting away with it.

PS - I think MR Bastard would be appropiate for formal posts such as these

Nice one, Barside - that makes a bit of sense.
A "championship-quality" player does have more sex-appeal than a "Blue Square South reject"

back to topic. I have seen the same thing, however it has taken place since the older versions of the game. In part I think one reason why the price jacks up is due to the hype that a player receives.

Another, is due to who is making the purchase (or where it ends); I have seen players worth a few pennies all of a sudden worth several million just because they moved up in the world. The same happens when a team goes up a leage, the players' value increases across the board.

However, I do think that the sale from the user's team is more realistic now, if you ask for too much, no one buys... so the economy of the game has improved.
