The "Big Three" of Spain? Real Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia? Valencia? There is no Big Three, Big Four, Big Whatever. There is an Old Firm of Real Madrid and Barcelona. And Real Madrid is clearly the top dog in this one.
Real Madrid has won La Liga 30 times to Barca's 18 (Real runner-up 17, Barca 22). No other club has won it 10 times (Atletico Madrid 9, Athelic Bilbao 8, Valencia 6).
Wherever one ranks Valencia in the Spanish football hierarchy, it is hard to argue that membership in the top spots is as locked up as in England; with the exlusive club merely competing for finishing order. In recent sesasons in addition to Valencia, Sevilla, Villarreal, and Real Sociedad have all contended for the title or at least finished in champions league spots (Neauva Grande Quatro?). Go back just a bit more and you can add Deportivo la Couruna to this list (you do remember they won in 99-00 and were in the Champions League for several seasons under Irueta).
By the way Rijkaard is, again, on the verge of gettin the axe for Barca's poor play. Look at the Spanish table and you will see that they are HORROR, FOUR points behind Real Madrid. But that is not the real (no pun intended) crisis. Look closer. You will see that Villarreal is second. Villarreal destroyed Barcelona recently, doing to Barca what many on this thread would believe Barca do to others...at all times. But it is Espanyol in Fifth and only two points behing that is the real disaster. Espanyol barely survived last year and now they are making a run at the top.
This is part of why La Primera Liga is better than the Premiership. There is so much more quality throughout the Spanish league. This includes in the lower levels, allowing a club like Valladolid to rise so quickly from the third division.

Wigan was non-league this time 10 years ago, and are now in the Premiership.
Reading were promoted and finished 8th in thier first season.
Tottenham were a lazange away from a champions league spot.
There is slightly more stability in the premier league then La Liga I agree. Thats not down to quality. Thats down the premiership being more physical. On a bad day, you wont be able to pull of tricks. On a bad day, your still as strong as you where yesterday, fast as you where yesterday, fit as you were yesterday. You dont lose that on a bad day. You dont lose strength and speed if your feeling a bit depressed.
Thats part of why your wrong.

Just wondering since I've yet to start a new season, since Barca are really good with talented players, then what new signings are worth going for at the end of the season & how much did you have to spend (assuming I win the league)?

I wonder if thats because Barcelona are the greatest football team in the world at present? hmmm
| I think Arsenal, Man Utd and AC Milan might have something to say about that? </BLOCKQUOTE>
Are you *****ing me?!
AC Milan would be lucky to make the top 4 in England...they're a **** poor team who have been in decline since the 2005 CL final...no changes to strengthen the squad to compete with their rivals, always keeping the same old stale players season in, season out; Maldini, Cafu, Dida still rotting away, amongst others.
Couple it with Anceletti's obsession with the CL; often resting players for a league match on the eve of a CL game; even in the group stages, as well as his poor transfer record (Emerson anyone?), means that AC Milan can no way deserve a mention, let alone a place, in the top 10 greatest clubs in the world at the moment

Kaka > you and everyone else
Chelsea in my game are Gods on the pitch...I did manage to hold them 0-0 in the charity shield and beat them on penalties.....only for them to whop me 0-4 at home on the first day of the league
Also Barca and Real are Gods. And wtf is with Real's players. I have Guti and Baptista both unhappy and wanting first team football, but they won't leave for any other club because it's a step backwards...knobheads |

I've just started a new FM Game with my bro on Network connection. I'm managing Barca and he's managing Real Madrid. The current table at the Christmas break stand at Sevilla on top with 40pts. Followed by Betis 39 pts, Barca 39pts, Valencia 38pts, Real Madrid 37 pts.
Yes, my Barca lost its first game to Betis 3-1. LoL. My other 2 losses were 0-1 to Madrid in Bernebeu and a disconnection occurs just as I was gonna submit team to face Mallorca. When I came on back it was already simulated with my Barca losing 2-3. The 3 were away games. We didn't have any autosave on and the last save was 2 mths back but we just continued with my bro very happy to not have saved frequent enuough. Now, we have a fortnight 3 files rolling save.
My strikers are awesome! In the league, Eto'o 20 goals in 21 games. Henry though experiencing goal drought at 8 goals in 14 games. Ronaldinho 14 in 21 games.
Sevilla is god in this game. And I'm wondering why is Betis so good instead of Villareal and Atletico Madrid up there. LoL. But this thight battle is the fun of it all!

Unfortunately, the amount of unintelligent people far outnumber the amount of intelligent people in this world, which leads to pointless arguments.
