I've just started a game as Mansfield in league 2, and have noticed that my reserve team are not entered into a reserve league for this season, which is a bit strange really as every other league 2 team is! Any ideas why? And i'm playing beta patched by the way.

Are Mansfields reserves playing in a reserve league this year? If not, then this is most likely why.

Bongo is right. If Mansfield aren't competing this season in the reserve league IRL, then it is reflected in the game. I had the same problem on FM07 with a league one side, cant recall who though. When it gets to the start of next season though a news item will ask you if you want to enter a team in the reserve and u18 league. Until then mate just arrange a friendly a week for them - it's quite time consuming but its worth it. Even if you only arrange a match to play against the under 18's.

Not sure to be honest, but i don't see why we wouldn't be and every other league 2 team is lol

It may be the case that Mansfield had too small a squad at the start of the season IRL to even consider having a reserve side. I personally would always have a reserve side, but Mansfield may be struggling a bit financially, and cannot afford too many players on their books. Therefore the backup players they do have tend to be from the under 18's.

Yeah true, not doing too bad for money but my squad isn't massive, i currently only have 4 players in the reserves, two out on loan and the other two could probably make a few appearances for the first team, just as subs though, but yeah im going to arrange a couple of friendlies to keep them fit

i dont know about mansfield but irl gillingham fc (league 1) dont run a reserve team to save costs (transport mainly).

i am sure in FM07 they didnt have a reserve team in the league to start so had to set up a bunch of friendlies fpr them.
