I am.
My tactics work great every match, I alter it almost for every match and they work, we crush the opponent, create 20 chances per half but my strikers decide it's more fun to miss than score.

No but my strikers suck.

Good game, still does a good job of drawing me in except for the unrealistic shots on target/ goal ratio.
also a warning, magic is going away a bit, they need to freshen it up.

Mostly the same, but it depends on the team your managing, your going to have different formations if your at a team like Arsenal than you would if you where at Southend United

I dont see a lot of difference in my mind, but i have noticed that you can play matches a lot faster than in FM07

not 'gamestopping' as such but the more I play it the more I see that they've badly programmed the chances/goals ratio so have to come up with cheap ways for you not to score, such as strikers suddenly not being able to hit the side of a bus and oppo keepers getting MotM 5 games in a row (yes, did actually happen, and seems to be more of an issue in international management than club management).

if they fit my system, absolutely.

4-4-2 diamond. 4-5-1 seems to work better but I'm sticking to my principles, not the tactic the game seems programmed to accept as the best. As the game goes on I've found different tactics start being used to oppo too (in 2012 at the moment)

I don't watch games other than goal replays so can't really make judgement. I am seeing a lot of goals being scored through a shot parried by the keeper and the rebound knocked in though.

- 8.01 patch took it's time, but yeah is pretty good
- date of 8.02 patch ("Early Feb 2008" Paul C.) sounds fine to me, will be after Jan transfer window. Will probably stick with 8.0.1 anyway for my 'career' game

Success with 442, 451 and 4141. I don't use anything else in my current game, maybe a 433 every now and then.

442 short forward arrows on the wingers. In FM2007 this tended to be 442 with long forward arrows for the wingers.

Overlapping in the wings is superb in FM2008, generally the game seems much better. I would like closing down revisiting as defenders do seem to have problems still.

I'm not happy that the game was shipped with a major bug in it, although I appreciate that these things happen and am sure SI will learn from this. However the beta patches resolved this issue early and finally the 8.01 patch got the game to a state where it is very playable. I think February is reasonable for the second full patch. I think the price of FM2008 was excellent value considering other games usually cost £10 - £15 higher.

Don't know yet, I sounds interesting, although time could be a problem.

It is still quite abstract and an area that could/should be expanded on in a future release of the game

My biggest concern about the game at the moment is that certain formations are being favoured because they exploit holes in the match engine - e.g. AMC and lone strikers. I would also like to see goalkeepers be a bit more involved. Throughballs would be less of a problem if the keepers acted as in real life.
