It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

How should I train youngsters? 16/17/18?
Should I put some with the senior or reserve squad so they'll train harder or just leave them so they will play U20 games?

you cannot put them with the reserves until they're 17 but that's what i do generally.

i also make a slightly lighter schedule just for them, especially the summer/fitness schedule, as young players tend to be more injury prone.

I've had 15 year olds playing for my reserves before.

If they are over 18 at the beginning of the season they can't play for the Under 18's, however if they were under 18 by the start of the season they can still play despite being 18.

Reserves I have not found any age limits for before in England, however to play in the first team layers must be 16 or above.

For training, all players under 18 will take part in the youth-team training, unless they are placed in the reserves or the first team. Off the top of my head I am not sure if it works the other way.

I tend to look at the players current ability and what other players in that position I have, and place them where ever I think they'll be able to cope at what level. However dont try to over push them as it doesn't help them really.

Hello people

Only had the game for a few months but currently playing as Chelsea and buying loads of young players (no one over 18 years old) in season 2008/09. I just wanted to know what happens when you assign them an older player to learn from? Do they improve dramatically or is this just a gimic in the game? Because what i was planning on doing was getting the oldies like Ronaldo to tutor my younglings to improve them but if this does nothing i won't bother.

Many Thanks

Well from my own experience, it varies from player to player, sometimes when you assign a player to tutor a youngster, the latest can have a huge boost on mental stats (only on mental in my experiences) but sometimes they'll just stay the same...but learning the PPMs can always help someone I think. I always give it a shot anyway.

With Charlton I had a youngster who had 9 for determination being tutored by someone with 20 after like 5 months this guy already had 17..it was insane
