Imo it makes no sense to use tight marking if your defender has relatively low stats for marking, anticipation or positioning, since in this case you ask someone to do work he is not able to do. I would also be careful to use hard tackling on STs as it increases risk to give penalty away. Finally, I never ask for High Closing Down if I think it will apply to my DC - I do not want my DCs being oout of position ever.
| You should use opposition instructions to take adavntage of a weakness in the opposition or to counter it's strengths. Even a realtively poor tackler will be able to win against a player with really low bravery as he will bottle out of the challenge.
Also you would want a DC to press a player who has really low composure as he will panic and give the ball away cheaply if you pressure him. If you did not he would have time on the ball to pick out a potentially killer pass.

Leroy, I agree with your point. It is probably just my personal style. I use Opposition Instruction only against players I am really afraid of , and they usually do not have really low stats.

Only just noticed this, great to see it fully explained
Shame that the forum members have to come up with the information that the manual doesn't supply |

Very good explanation of opposition instructions mate. Some of the things I had previously used myself although there were also a couple of things you had thought of that I hadn't, so thanks, I learnt something extra today.
