The fans begged me to stay when I declared my interest for the Kidderminster job, so I decided to stay at least until I got another job. Never got another job during the season, so I ended up doing another season with Frickley.
After doing some squad/tactic-rotation, I managed to get two players scoring noticeably more goals than the rest of he team. Amongst the players
that was brought in was a 19 year old goalkeeper who was also goalkeeping for the Scottish u-21. He turned out to be a real bargain at just £1K.
Started the season with five straight losses, and rock bottom before I managed to get a couple of draws. The rest of the season were a little up and down. Twelve games left of the season and I find myself one point below the playoffs, and looking more than likely to improve on the last couple of seasons. But then something happened somewhere and one game left of the season and I am suddenly just one point above the relegation zone. Last game is at home against Southport who also needs to win to avoid relegation. The game is lost 5-3.
In the end I managed to stay up, by a points margin. I resigned the next day.
Redditch United, newly promoted into Conference South, offered me a four year contract. Decided to delay accepting their offer, to see if Bath or Braintree in the Conference decided to offer me a job. They did not, so I accepted the offer from Redditch.
