Season 09-10
Italy Serie C1/B
Montichiari
Just promoted. No money to spend. I'm thinking I'll weed the deadwood, blood a couple of hot prospects and be glad if I stay up. Not so, says the AI. You should be winning the title.
We had a good start, followed by a prolonged poor spell by the end of which we drop into the relegation spots, and then a strong surge back up the table which leaves us an outside chance of scraping a playoff spot as we enter the final week. Ultimately we fall a bit short, but I'm not unhappy with midtable.
Problems abound, with half the squad unhappy that we're "underperforming".

A couple of our better players want new contracts that we simply can't afford, but unlike in the past, I'm worried that we can't get away with selling them off and replacing them with cheaper players. An interesting summer is in store. At time of writing, my leading scorer, the San Marino international, has just seen his value (1.2 mill) offered. While I've turned it down for now, I may not be able to hold out for long as a million and a half would clear all our debt.
In positive news, I've brought through a MRC, SC, DC and DM from the U-20 team, the SC and the MRC look to be outstanding prospects, as does a DRC who would have got the call but for injury. I have to hope my scouts find similar quality kids to replace them.
C1/B: 9th.
Cup: Accidentally qualified out of the group, but went out in the next round.
