Default What is it that you enjoy most about being an LLM'er ?

Been thinking about this one, over the last couple of days - so am gonna post the question. What is it that you enjoy most about being an LLM ?

For me - I guess it's about the challenge of having a go with a small, unfasionable side and seeing how far I can take them, when you have 'peanuts' from which to build your side. I also enjoy finding gems of players, and building them up - sometimes to stick with my side, or go on to bigger and better things.

Much better than managing at the top, for me.

For me it is a strugle to avoid relegation and a feeling in your hart when you promote the same team.

Best thing for me is LLM online.

The feeling of despair after an amazing final day relegation was quite powerful.

The challenge. Any idiot can manage a top club to success within a couple of seasons without any real problems. LLM takes time, patience and you get to see the fruits of your labour when you eventually get that long awaited promotion.

It's the highs and lows of LLM that keep it interesting.

I like football.

I like Football Manager (Championship Manager before it).

LLM's the only way to play, I don't have a choice.

Any other way's ultimately unsatisfactory.

I enjoy the online challenge as well.

I have always enjoyed finding 'gems' of players and even in my early days of non LLM playing I still spent wisely and tried to find bargain players.

There is a real sense of achievement when you turn a failing club around. The power of LLM is akin to 'The Force' in that you feel each result as if you are actually the RL manager.

As for the forum, I think Ian has said it before about the LL posters are of like minded in terms of values but have diverse interests and opinions which make the forum above and beyond the likes of TT&T and GPG.

In my own experience, i would compare it to a book called "The Diceman" by Luke Rhinehart. His life was boring and mundane before he experienced "Dicelife", my Football management career was boring and mundane prior to discovering LLM.

Footnote: I'm currently still in the process of reading said book, so please do not ruin the ending and uncovering any secrets as to why "Dicelife" is not the way ahead.

The challenge, the tears, the joy, the banter in the clan, the drivel in the forums...

But most of all the fact that I earn what I get in the game. No shortcuts, no walkthroughs, you must fight if you want to succeed*

*success being not getting relegated, earning that long awaited promotion or finally making it to the big stage.

Like Ian said.

I think you should question people who don't play according to LLM ethos what they enjoy about playing that way.

Playing anyway other than LLM has long ago stopped being an option for me.
