After seeing what it looks like in EHM or whatever the name was, I sure hope they do some work on it. It's not like they don't know how to do it, they just need to take the leap.

It IS EHM (though a change might be in offing; some of us are pushing for it), and the scouting in it is miles ahead of FM. That might be the only way it beats FM but it does it big. Some do not like the letter grading it gives on key areas of a player's game, but basically, the scouts look for players that are suitable for your level. You can instruct your scouts to ignore high profile players as well, and the scout instructions themselves are very configurable. If you leave a scout permanently stationed somewhere, he continues to provide reports as long as you leave him there. Yeah, it's great, and I wish the FM guys would take the system as a basis. It would need some change, particularly the ability to distinguish between part-time and full-time and how that affects what scouting can be done.

I don't think you can really say that scouting in EHM beats FM's scouting system big by any means. I haven't found the scouting in EHM to be all that great, just like it's not so good in FM, either.

Just fine some plurk a couple of weeks wages. That should just about cover the cost of an EasyJet flight!

Does the game engine have a built in unrealism guard so that you cannot scour Europe using a £20 scout?
When I first started expanding my scouting as I got to the top of Division One in the Scottish Leagues, I had trouble getting my scouts to find very many continental players. Also, when I was in Division Three, I would tell my scouts to watch Division Two, and they'd fine nobody. Now, me thinks there are a couple D2 players that could succeed at D3... but I believe the scouts in FM naturally filter out people you don't realistically have a shot at. So me thinks that there are no Continental players who want to play part-time for peanuts for a English team, when they could do the same for a hometown team.

btw the scout was sent to Holland to find a left footed midfielder...no other search criteria. Do all dutch players play right footed? :kris102:
Well, are you sure you'd find *any* players in Holland to start?

There are issues with scouting though. When I send scouts to UK & Ireland they usually find a good bunch of players. But if I send them to a single country, whether it be England or N.Ireland, they often find nothing. You may have a point in your explanation, but it doesn't really explain this.

I suspect you may find out a couple of new features in the near future. Allegedly. Unless we have more powercuts in the office today that result in us losing everything we're working on...
