It does not really matter how long it takes for someone to gain an E.U. passport, it either happens or it doesn't.

IRL, some players spend their whole footballing carrees in Europe and never take out new nationality papers. Others produce fake papers and get new passports almost straight away.

What difference does it make, to your game, as to when or if they take new nationalities? If you are basing your decision, on buying a player, on when he will get a new nationality, then you should not be, there is no guarantee that any player will be given one. </BLOCKQUOTE>

I completely disagree with you, I think its very important information. Personally, I like to start a game knowing all the rules.

It can make a big difference in leagues where you are limited to the number of foreign players you have.

I'm sure there will be cases IRL where players have signed up after agreeing to take on that country's nationality as soon as possible. </BLOCKQUOTE>

What I was going to say, in answer to Phil, was that this has beeen discussed to death in GQ on every incarnation of the game. As I recall it, SI stated on numerous occasions that this was a random thing and definitely not determined on the basis that every non EU player automatically took on a new nationality after the required time.

Thus I do not consider it relevant how long it takes, as not all players will take it anyway.

I suppose I was under the impression that there was more of a structure to it now since we get media messages regarding it. I don't think I even realised it was random beforehand.

Even if it is random, it makes a difference imo. If I have the opportunity of signing an 18yo Albanian, who might count as a foreigner, I'm more likely to go for it if I know he has the chance of becoming Serbian next year.

I can't see why they couldn't put the criteria in the 'rules' section of the league.

Anyway, this is definitely becoming GQ territory now. I only wanted to know if anyone had a list of the various rules to stop me dirtying my hands with the editor.

Of course there will be a minimum time in each country before a player can gain citizenship but that does not mean to say the he will necessarily choose to. He may decide that he doesn't want Serbian citizenship and never get it; a far more realistic situation that if there were a formula determining when he would receive it.

I would have thought he more chance of being ethnically cleansed than of becoming a Serb. :eek:

Just loaded up the Editor to check for you - for I don't care what these lot think tbh about looking in the editor to clarify a point of fact on an FA setup.

[b]It states under the Serbian Nation Entry that it takes 3 years to gain Serb Nationality.


And whilst I was in there I removed all traces of Montenegro from the nation's entry - in line with the new independence moves.

That's interesting actually, cos I am getting a load of players obtaining Serb nationality after only one year, but they all seem to be Slovenian so maybe its an ex-Yugoslav thing? Anyway, this is definitely GQ territory now, unless we have any Balkan work permit experts in here

iirc - the whole former Yugoslav Federal Republics are outside the EU - so WP's shouldn't be a problem
