Dorchester - Season 8

Board Expectations - Mid Table
My Expectations - Promotion

After 8 seasons hard work, nearly 400 games later and Dorchester have finally achieved league football!! Deep Joy!

So after the dissapointment of last season, a lot of work was done in pre-season and I have to say a huge amount of credit must go to my scouts, they finally came up with the goods! For the first time ever I spent some cash, I had a whopping £250k to spend!

So I brought in a youngish striker for 80k who had a ratio of nearly a goal every other game and the boy done good by grabbing me 24 goals. I also brutally gave 3 defenders the chop and formed a new defence which made a huge difference.

Anyway the season was by far my most exciting FM experience to date. Was 4 points clear at Xmas and at one point in March was 10 points clear! Then a run of 6 games without a win saw a 3 horse race for the title in the last month. The lead swapped hands several times and by the last game of the season I needed a point to clinch the title away to Scunthorpe. I lost 2-1 but the others lost too and the title was mine!!

My defence of the FA Trophy ended in the quarters after getting tonked 4-0 by Torquay! Apart from that no cup runs to speak of.

So Dorchy are now full time, the training facilities have gone from Basic to Average and at last league football is upon us

Lets just hope I dont return to the conference again!!

Season 7

Conference National - 1st Pts87
FA Cup - 2nd Round
FA Trophy - Qtr Finals
LDV Vans - 1st Round

Sorry this update was a little long!

Dorchester - Season 9

Board Expectations - Battle bravely against relegation
My Expectations - Stay up!

So league football is on the horizon and the summer again was an important one. A new centre half came in aswell as a new left and right winger to add a bit more depth. All in all the scout helped me bring in 5 players in pre-season with 6 being released.

10 games in to the season and im 2nd!! My striker I bought on a free last year has banged in 12 goals already and is now worth £500k!! Anyway the great start built the season and although the form dipped as I would have expected it to, I was delighted with the effort of the lads.

A finish of 5 wins and 1 draw in the last 6 games helped me finish 10th only 4 points off the playoffs. Im delighted!

In other news, Leicester approached me in Jan who were 3rd from bottom in the Championship. Slightly tempted but said No!

Cup runs were awful! Still no stadium expansion

Season 9

League 2 - Pld 46 Pts61
FA Cup - 1st Round
League Cup - 2nd Round
LDV Vans - 1st Round

What, no ability to book a room at one of London's top hotels? What a disapointing diary.

Good update mind

Ok all I have a dilema!

Just got a job offer from West Ham who are 3rd from bottom in League 1!! Ive guided Dorchester to 2nd in League 2 with 9 games to go.

Shall I continue with Dorchy or try to steer The Hammers back to premier league status?

I cant decide!!

Hmmm...I have a feeling, haveing read the other threads, that managing West Ham may prove the greater challenge, especially if you don't manage to save them from relegation. It a perverse way it may also prove more fulfilling too: restoring former glories is always fun!

However, as out Aussie pall suggests, if you feel a great attatchment to Dorchy stick with them!
