It's about time I eject finger from @rse and got back to playing FM. I've been off travelling the globe, so I've only had FM2006 for the last month, and I thought I'd get back into it.
Asking Frank to drop me into England, he blew me away by giving me the same challenge I had in FM05, Barrow.

Considering this season to be purely for establishing myself, I simply looked to expand the coaching staff and bring in a couple of new out-of-contract players to buoy the team. After spending the first half of the season in the happy LLM wilderness that is mid-table obscurity, the team stepped up the pace, stringing
together nine games without losing and stitching up 3rd place on the table. After scraping past Lancaster in the playoff semi, the boys rose to the occasion to post a memorable 2-0 win against Redditch for promotion.

I thought last season was an absolute fluke and at the start of the season had absolutely no intention in signing new players, with the wage bill too high I though I would have a much better chance of surviving the drop with my job if the finances were in good condition. But as the season wore on without the club in any serious danger of falling into the relegation pit, I found my way to bringing to the club a former loanee GK and a free right winger, leading the club to sit comfortably in 15th by the end of it.

Against my better judgement, I spent most of my transfer budget straight away on a cultured Scottish MC who had a solid, if not unspectacular season. Much to everyone's surprise, my boys went straight to the top of the table and were 6 points clear at Christmas. However, a FA Trophy loss lead the team into a second half of incredibly indifferent form saw them slump to 4th by season's end, proving once again that cups suck @rse. Despite a rallying 3-2 win against an in-form Grays in the playoff semi, we were easily disposed of 3-0 by Kidderminster in the final.
