Ok see your point and agree. I just think that to have charge of a nation who are genuine World Cup contenders, you would do your upmost to add that honour to your C.V.

Do you think Sven would like losing to Sweden. If O'Neill got the England job do you think he would role over against Northern Ireland?
These lads are Professionals and their rofessional careers depend on getting them results.
If Scolari gets the England job you can bet he will give 100% to the England cause and then support Brazil in the next round when England are on the plane home having lost on penalties |

I am sure Scolari would be professional if England met Brazil in the final of the WC but he does not really care if England lose does he? He may get upset at the blot on his CV but he does not really, deep in his heart, give a twopenny toss. He gets paid either way.

Results based pay for managers and players...now there is an idea worth considering!

| Maybe it should be the other way around, no pay for the England manager. Then you would see who really wanted the job. The players don't get paid by England anyway, only expenses and bonuses.

I meant at a club level too; but that is still a good idea.

That fine, but who's to say this isn't the start of sustained success for EPL clubs? | I don't disagree that it's possible, but the game appears to overrate the EPL and make this automatic. In every version of CM and FM I have played, dating back to CM 97/98, EPL teams have always been making it to the semifinals and final of the Champions League. If I saw a mix of this, with occasionally the EPL becoming a dominant league for a number of years, that would make more sense. Quote: |
Also, you say England have been underacheiving so I don't understand why it is so wrong for England to finally reach their potentaial and do well!
| Again, that's certainly possible, but the game has ALWAYS made it so that England does better in the game than it has done in the past 40 years in real life. It's in every saved game, without fail. I have never had a saved game in which England did not win the World Cup at least once or twice out of every four or five World Cups.

Not always. England went out in the groups and Swedish guy resigned in a save of mine!!
The guy who took the job then got sacked at the end of the tournament but that's a whole different story!! |

You probably find most people have English leagues loaded so that would automatically give it a 'leg up' at international and club level unless you load every country.
Anyway, the poms get their Brazilian. I guess it's the best part of 4.5 years before we see if it is a good move. I'll start a market and offer 25-1 for England to win WC2010 |
