I would be very surprised if England win the World Cup, unless it's played in...well...England.

You're a fool. We won't win the World Cup. I think we'll make it to the semis, but no further. There's no chance of beating Brazil, though.

I'm still putting a couple of quid on Spain, though (again). One day they'll come good...

Given that the home teams almost always have some kind of success, I believe that Germany will have a say. Most likely by some dumb luck and not by skill though.

I was writing a bit about how I don't think Gillmacs is that far off. While it would be mildly surprising if England won it, it wouldn't be a huge shock.

As I was writing it I changed my mind though. I'll fall off my chair if Sven manages to keep his thoughts off the laydees long enough to coach England to a win.

Even as a Pooflander, I certainly hope that Germany get through to the QFs at least.

If the last World Cup proved anything, it's that the host nation's progress generates real excitement. Although I doubt that the Germans will be anything other than enthusiastic (or drunk, or maybe enthusiastically drunk), as long as they believe their country has s chance of winning the Cup, they'll probably be much 'jollier' about the whole thing.

Just had a look through the history pages of my game, which is England-leagues only, and I found that after 14 full seasons it has been evenly split between clubs from England, Italy, Spain, Germany and France. 3 English winners in both the Champions League and the UEFA Cup. Newcastle winning CL twice, and River Plate not even reaching a final yet are the only obvious surprises.

On International level I found a huge bias towards the European countries. 3 out of 4 World Cups was won by European countries, while all three Euro Championships were won by European countries. So, I can safely say there is a European dominance in my game...

England has won one of each by the way...
