I think the balance between being a pooflander/jock and being from a low reputation country has got a bit better this version of FM.

This version I am now noticing that after some success I get interest from clubs in the same division as me but with bigger reputations. Seems about right as I am performing above expectation at my club so would expect these types of clubs to have a look. Can't speak for if the pooflanders get too many offers still.

UELLfan, I've always suspected that the reason I never get offers is that I play with my American nationality. [Insert anti-American jokes here.]

Wizzle_O_Sizzle, the people on this forum have not sorted out their statements about job offers based on their nationality. I dare say that there are quite a few Pooflanders and Jocks here, and they play with their own nationality, so let's take them out of the equation.

If we poll those playing with nationalities other than the high reputation countries, then we'll probably see that they rarely get job offers. And this is completely unrealistic, as a very good manager in real life will naturally progress in his career, regardless of nationality. If a certain Serbian bloke, who has managed numerous smaller national sides to surprising glory, was a human manager in FM, he would never get any of those jobs because he's Serbian and not from Holland, Spain or England.

I agree that it's rare for someone to get an international job with very little experience, but we've been seeing it all the time lately with big name former players. Granted, they have a massive reputation, so I'll ignore those examples for now.

But really small countries with no football success, like Gambia, have been known to hire foreign managers with limited success, because they could only dream that someone with any kind of professional qualifications would apply. In real life, Gambia has recycled one particular bloke at least a half dozen times as its national manager. He's been sacked and hired numerous times. They just don't have other choices, so they end up hiring the locally based bloke who is probably one of the few people in the country that have ever managed a football team at any level.

Let's take my three career saves:

Career one: Andorran (:cool. No job offers for 7 seasons. Then, after taking Barakaldo to the 2nd B playoffs 5 years in a row (and losing them consecutively as well :cool I resign and get offered a new job at Spanish 2nd B the next season. I didn't play the game any more, as Spain was somewhat messed pre-6.0.2.

Career Two: Portuguese. No Job offers until we started getting results. Once my reputation was up to National I started receiving job offers left and right.

Career Three: South African (:cool The only job offers I've received in some 13 seasons have been from teams who are very desperate and from the same Division I am in or even lower (and they have only started popping in the past 2 seasons, once I made it into the Conference National).

Well I had a job offer from the England u21s after a season and a half of managing in the Belarusian 2nd league. I am English nationality but only have the Belarusian leagues loaded. Probably pushing the bounds of realism.
