Season 2005/06
Elgin City - Scottish Third Division
The club is over £180k in debt, with a £3.1k wage budget and no transfer budget. Expectations are very low, thankfully. The backroom was pitiful, save for the assistant manager (who in real life, recently put in a bid to buy the team, was rejected and ended up leaving the club). The job centre advterisments apparently target Danes, Germans, and Greeks, so I was forced to resort to more traditional staff searches. I added four coaches, a physio, and a scout for the season.
A quick overview of the team showed several holes. The goalkeeper was a liability, there's little depth at forward, and I had only two wingers on the entire squad. Signed keeper *Ahemsorrysomethinginmythroatthatsoundedlikeaplaye rname* after a a successful trial. My scouts dallied, and did not adequately scout the wingers I had requested. As the transfer deadline approached, my starting left winger, already beset with attitude problems, went down with a long term injury. I quickly purchased Ye Random Left Winger. I knew nothing about him, but he qualified as a warm body.
The season started horribly, losing the first four games and only grabbing 7 points from the first 13 games. The League & Challenge Cup were no better, getting knocked out in the first round of each. By November, the media was already predicting my demise due to our 1-4-8 record. Even East Stirlingshire was above us in the table!
Thankfully, the Scottish Cup turned the team around. Earned a 2nd round replay at Ayr, where we surpisingly thrashed them 6-2. Gretna would eventaully knock us out in the 4th round, but finances & morale had been saved. The team went on several unbeaten stretches during winter and spring, and almost snuck into the playoffs before Albion Rovers leaped over us on the last day.
The defence ended up being the highlight of the team. Two defenders earned First Team honors, along with my random left winger.
Scottish 3rd Div: 5th, 14-9-13, 50-42, 51 pts Scottish Cup: 4th round by Gretna, 75k prize League Cup: 1st round by Stranraer Challenge Cup: 1st round by Forfar Old Firm: Rangers win SPL, no cup wins World Cup: Holland defeats U.S.A. 3-2 in extra time.
Season 2006/07
Elgin City - Scottish Third Division
Expectations are still low this year. I improved the balance to £80k in debt, but the wage & transfer budget (none) remain unchanged. Recently promoted Queen's Park came knocking for my best player from last year, and eventually accepted my price of £20k. Used the money to bring in a replacement defender and a more reliable winger.
The defence performed spectacularly, especially early in the season. The cups sucked arse this year, but no matter - Elgin City quickly rushed to the top of the league table and stayed there.
Elgin City dominated the division, securing the championship with seven games left on March 3rd. Alas, Gretna's 98 point 2004/05 campaign was still untouchable. Still, Elign players captured 9 of 11 Team of the Year spots. My striker's 25 league goals netted him Player of the Year.
Scottish 3rd Div: 1st, 25-5-6, 77-31, 80pts Scottish Cup: 3rd round by Motherwell League Cup: 1st round by St. Johnstone Challenge Cup: 1st round by Raith Old Firm: Rangers win SPL & League Cup
Season 2007/08
Elgin City - Scottish Second Division
It's getting much harder to improve the team. I was awarded my first transfer budget of £4k, but money isn't the problem. Anyone who my scouts like is completely uninterested in Elgin. I hope the current team can survive as is. Maybe if I can pull in enough money to improve our lousy training facilities. Thankfully, expectations pin us as a relegation battler.
The Scottish Second Division had a rude welcoming for Elgin City. The Badgers failed to win in their first five games, and were routed several times. Thankfully, the season turned around. Clyde knocked me out of both the Scottish & Challenge Cups, but retribution was had during league play. Elgin rebounded marvelously, and found themselves moving towards the playoff zone. A slight slip in form at the end of the season made things interesting, but Elgin finished in 3rd, three points above 5th place Forfar.
Elgin surprised even myself in the playoffs as they brushed aside a usually tough Patrick Thistle in a 7-1 aggregate win. However, St. Johnstone delivered a solid 2-0 victory over Elgin in the playoff finals.
The most surprising player was my young backup left winger, who unexpectedly became my best player. I also signed my first players to full time contracts. I successfully lured a good holding midfielder during the mid-season transfer window, but it cost me a full time £230 p/w contract to do it. Full-time intrigued me, and I moved my defensive stalwart, top winger, and two strikers to full-time contracts.
Scottish 3rd Div: 1st, 17-6-15, 56-50, 57pts Scottish Cup: 2nd round at Clyde League Cup: 2nd round by Dundee Challenge Cup: 2nd round at Clyde Old Firm: Ranges win SPL for 4th consecutive year, Euro Cup semi-finals.

Rather strange restrictions & goals you've set yourself.
The restriction is part of the goal, really. I figured it be too easy to dethrone Celtic & Rangers if I could easily get a job at Hearts or Motherwell.
Basically, I want to see Celtic & Rangers go down. Odd, because I usually cheer for them in real life. I just wanted some definition for "success."
You seem to have made a mistake in season 3. You say you are in second div (which makes sense seeing as you won third div the year before) but your result has you winning third div with 57 points from 38 games. Please explain
