Once your in a losing run, it doesnt seem that ANYTHING you say or do can pull you out of it! (same with striker goal droughts)
Just bide your time and keep losing until the game code decides to let you win again! (that is how it feels anyway ;-)

| It used to feel like that in 07, where poor form manifested itself in awfully contrived mistakes mid-match, but in 08 I dont perceive (perceive being key) this to be the case.
Normally if I hit a bad run I will look for tiredness (as Ive only played LLM so far) and rotate, sometimes going for my best athletes and playing a narrow, fast tempo, counter attacking game.

why is it when things go wrong poor FM Managers automatically blame the game engine where as good FM managers look at ways to turn things around, review their tactics etc

Change things around, different tactics for different teams might help.
| Spot on, in addition even though the options are limited the OP can try and manage his players into form by either criticism or encouragement depending on the players personality.
The teamtalk "faith in your ability" option can be very useful if a player is having a crisis of confidence. </BLOCKQUOTE>
If I may something that works sometimes is by sending my misfiring strikers to the reserves for a few weeks, and using my reserve striker IF they are banging in the goals..that once worked for me too.
You really need to make sure that your players are getting good chances, if they are not..look to your tactic. There will be times when you get bizarre matches. I just had one finish 5-5..because both teams through caution to the wind..it was fun to watch but heartwrenching for the AI.

Good point Rashid, BUT,
you say you need to look at your tactics to help goal drought strikers, but these are the same tactics the same strikers who had previously scored with-out a problem!?? So, theoretically it cannot be ANYTHING to do with tactics??

It could be your tactics.
The AI has watched you play and figured out your formation, therefore you aren't scoring. Little tweaking now and again will keep the AI guessing.

| It can if other teams are looking at you going 'hold on, these strikers have been scoring a fair few goals, I'll have to try and neutralise them'.
This is basically what can happen, as you become more of a threat to the opposition they'll change how they see you and in turn how they play against you.
If things stop working you need to change them.

True- Ive got my LLM hat on here as my squad is so thin at Billericay (sp?) that my reserves never win because there games are filled by my youthteam- many of whom played 72 games last year lol.
Saying that Im doing well- got out of the BS South in my first season and only narrowly lost in the BS Premier playoff final due to exhaustion- as even though I rest players from training half my team started that game with less than 70% fitness.

problem is the AI doesnt neutralize them, i still get lots of shots on target, however the players will either shoot against the keeper or keeper makes an awesome defense or hit the bar etc etc. example of my last game: my team 15 shots on target and 4 goals scored, AI team 3 shots on target 2 goals. my strikers are palacio, delgado, aguero, falcao. if i wans't making enough shots on target i wouldn't be complaining... and forgot to mention that AI also seems to ahve super tacklers because any player with 12 on marking and tackling can tackle my strikers but my defenders with 18 on marking and tackling will miss the tackles or "runaway" from de AI striker...
