Success breeds success, that's for sure!
I'm having no real problems signing players for Bayern, although English players are harder to sign than others.
I have been able to entice Van De Vaart and Saivet to Bayern, I'm quite sure I'm going to be able to get some other high-profile players as well.
I don't think there's any problem with the way Bayern are represented in the game.
Win the league, get into the CL, won't have a problem at all signing players.

Regarding Bayern, this season it is a bit tougher with them, but they have a very homogenous team and making it harder is a nice thing, so winning CL will be a very tough exercise in this version, specially with the strange finance settings in the beta patch. Great challenge!
By the way.
I am a german livng in fatboys country, I have to say the dutch aren`t all like that. If they were I wouldn`t have been here for that long, having a girlfriend from that beautyful city where fatboy is from.

Re: the OP:

It seems that some players are using the wrong criteria regarding potential transfers.

I think FM must use the same system uniformly for all players at all clubs through all leagues in all nations.

That [ie. that the same principles for Champions League contenders are used] might help explain why lower league management can so often become farcical nonsense.

In my game when I sold Van Bommell he said he was glad to be going to the Premiership so he could be playing in a "better league".

So some players in the game definitely view England as a better quality place to play than Germany.

I am in year 2 and Ribery is getting tons of offers from everyone. Most notably Inter are pusing hard but my 100 million pound asking price has managed to keep eveyrone away so far.

I think it is only a matter of time until Inter makes an offer that board accepts though. :-(

I loaned Djourou one season, and during that time Bayern became his favourite club...that season his contract was up, and when he went back to Arsenal, I put a bid in for him, only for him/his agent to tell me he has NO INTEREST in joining...left me puzzled!

Had this all the time in lower leagues.
One player even refused to extend his loan a few days before the JP Trophy final.
As soon as he left the club however, I re-bid, it was accepted by both the club and him - but he didn't come back in time to play in the final.
(An even more annoying that happened with my other top scoring striker too, is that they had been amazingly prolific until they left and came back a few days later, then neither of them scored for the rest of the season! - almost as though they were having trouble settling into a new team. )

But yeah, players would rather become free agents than sign for their favoured personnel at their favoured clubs - and then they still wouldn't sign!

I don't know about 08 but I am fairly certain that on 07 these statements were purely cosmetic things generated by a rejection and in reference to particular data values in the database.

I'll give you an example. I try to sign some guy from Norway. He says he doesn't want to sign because of our poor training facilities (the item references my training facilities) and he is unsure if a move to England would be in his best interest (the item references his low adaptability).

I use FM modifier to change my clubs reputation so that it is higher than the player's reputation. I then try to sign him and he agrees. Suddenly the poor training facilities and moving to England don't seem to bother him. It based on relative reputation as in game this is an indication of league, quality of facilities, Euro competition etc. It's the same when a player signs and he states it is because of you playing in Europe or he is looking forward to working with the manager. I honestly don't believe either of these things are actually implemented in the 'willing or not willing to sign for a club'. It is the simplest and most efficient way to do it in terms of processing.

It is one of the reasons for people often questioning why a player signs for a club in League 2 rather than their newly promoted League 1 team. In long term games the effect is most pronounced. For example in taking Fisher to the championship my reputation had only increased to the extent I was the 7th best team in League 1 based on reputation alone. This resulted in players rejecting me, challenging for a play off spot in the championship, for clubs in League 1.

That's just my theory on it but I cold be wrong.

Diaby plays for Arsenal. So, yeah, Again, not suprising he wants to stay there.

Again, season one, ~Bayern have no champ league football. Porto do. Hense him wanting to go there.

And the Chairman thing is a problem with any club you play, its a bug that needs fixing.
And Luca Toni, Franck Ribery, Owen Hargreaves, Miroslav Klose are just 2nd rate players, or what? Especially Owen Hargreaves ( I know he´s plaing for ManU now) who is also British and had, AFAIK, lots of offers when he was a youngster from British clubs, chose Bayern instead.

The game is biased towards the British clubs and towards the socalled "big clubs" of recent years, i.e. Porto.

This is IMHO the only major flaw of the game, because it makes it harder to play with non-British clubs in general and non-English clubs in particular. </BLOCKQUOTE>

That's because Premiership clubs have very aggressive players. And because of this they are less affected by the closing down issues.

Bayern don't attract the same talent as the english clubs because their lack of champions league football in the recent years. When Hargreaves joined them they were doing fairly well you know. Right now they aren't doing that well, neither in the league nor the cups. If you change that and wait a season you'll probably be more attractive for the clubs..

I would also like to point out that value and reputation is an issue also confirmed with the game pre and post patch. And will be resolved with the final patch. </BLOCKQUOTE>

Well they don't seem to be doing to bad in the league as they are top albeit by a point but top none the less lol.
