I'm finally playing FM2008 now ( my Polish version didn't have any English on it but i downloaded the demo and copied the English file from there to my game).

Anyway quick question.....I'm playing in the SPL and everything is going well so far but one thing that i've noticed is that the Old Firm's strip sponser carling is not on the shirts, all other teams's strips are fine....why is this???

Sorry if this question has been asked before but i couldn't find any threads relating to this.

Almost certainly a license issue- Carling may not have given permission or wanted large payment.

That was my initial thought too but as SI have the rights to the SPL inc names, faces, strips and club badges i thought that all sponsers would be on the game....and its more advertising for Carling.

I would imagine it's more an issue of advertising alcohol (however unintended) in a game with a 3+ age rating.

Maybe....but im sure there are at least one team in the Championship or Football league who has a brewery or alcohol brand on there strip and it's not been removed??

We were asked by the SPL to remove the Carling logos from the Rangers / Celtic shirts in the game, so we did.

I've noticed it's the same in Pro Evolution Soccer as well, so it must be something that applies to all games and not just ours. No idea about the reasons behind it.

IIRC Schalke 04 have their stadium listed as the Arena Auf Schalke when in reality it is called the Veltins Arena & despite the German licencing issues all other Stadia are named correctly.

Surely it must have Been Carling's request but it makes nio sense really....it's basically free advertising for them.

Wasn't there a big fuss earlier this year regarding alchohol sponsorship in sport, particullarly in football? IIRC, many clubs who are sponsored by alchohol companies have agreed not to put the sponsor on child strips so as not to encourage binge drinking (as if thats going to make even the slightest bit of difference). Perhaps this is the reason why the SPL don't want Carling on the Celtic and Rangers shirts.

The kids shirts still have the Carling logo on them.

Maybe Carling have bad blood with SI????

Has Miles been spotted drinking one of Carling's rival beers????
