Default Will the fixture scheduling problems be fixed in FM 2008?

Starting from the 2nd season, international matchdays sometimes clash with champions league matchdays, meaning half the squad may be unavailable for selection.

Has this been (or will this be) fixed in FM 2008?

Thanks for your replies, although I hope somebody in the know (SI?) would take time to give an answer too!

Surely this should be a priority.

I believe that the problem comes up in game for years in which the South American federation has to plan a multi-year tournament, such as World Cup Qualifying.

The "current year", the dates are on .. but there's a bug by which the matches scheduled for the second year .. well the South American FA has to pick the "FIFA international dates" for that second year, and it "guesses" wrong.

Then when the European leagues roll around, they use some fixed point - e.g., "The Charity Shield is the Sunday that falls between August 2nd and August 8th... and the first international date is exactly 5 weeks later."

That calculation is "off by one week" from what the South American FA guessed.

So we wind up with the South American internationals falling a week after (usually) the rest-of-the-world's internationals.

SI could either fix the South American "guess" so that it was using the same "fixed point"... or add some "correction" code, so that when the European leagues decide the FIFA international dates for 09-10, it checks the pre-scheduled internationals for other nations, and "reschedules" the matches which are reasonably close, over to the correct FIFA international date.

I'm gonna post that over in Bugs.

I'm Barcelona and have to play alot of CL games without Ronaldinho, Aguerro, Messi, Milito, Riquelme, Marquez and Dos Santos.

Also Marquez has played more games for Mexico that he has for me.

Sometimes players miss the CL games cos they are travelling to be with the International team
