i think a 3d match would be rubbish, it would turn into Fifa manager still. a completely riduclous match engine, and grahpics would never be good enough. The only thing i can see them doing in the future is slighty rotating the view from birds eye to a more 3d angle.

I remember Premier Manager 98 had a somewhat "3D" match engine. It was terrible lol the match engine didnt seem to work and players who were world class would score about 7 goals a game against teams like arsenal and liverpool.
ALtho if they did make the match engine work in tandem with the graphics, it would've been quite good, could see offsides, goals, fouls in much more detail. rather than two blobs floating abut like they're making sweet sweet love.

Maybe if they just introduced it for the incidents it would be okay, and maybe goal of the month, but to be honest im happy with it how it is, classic fm, wonderful.

One of the many reasons as to why 3D match engine never should be implemented in FM:
The Total Club Manager-series.. (this kinda recaps all the other reasons, opposing a 3D match engine)

cm 2008 has a match engine that is visually alot better than the current one in fm 2008. it offers perspective on height and depth, although i have only played the demo for one game lol. Not sure what the actual play is like in the match engine.
