Hi im just curious when negotiating a new contract with the board because what difference does it make how high your managers wages are, does it impact your reputation as a manager or whatever?? thanks

If you have a higher wage, you're less likely to get sacked, as the board would have to pay more compensation to you. There isn't much difference other than that.

It's more to really get an idea of how unsackable you will be after signing it. Few teams are likely to sack their manager if they're tied down to a 5 year £60k a week contract.

While a manager with less than a year of a £1k a week contract could be jettisoned without much fuss.
