Default Target Man or Playmaker?

Basically, my question is, which is the difference in the practice?

I mean, in FM2007, "Target Man" was "the player who looks to bring others into play" which is actually the role of the playmaker, that in FM2007 was the player that the other ones look to pass the ball to.

How does it work in FM2008?

And I would like to ask another question... Is it really useful to play with Playmaker or Target Man? Which one would you recommend?

Thank you very much!

I tend to use my strikers for target men (either to head for tall guys or run on/to feet for my quickies) and have an AM as playmaker. This is supposed to be the guy who sets others up whereas a target man usually tries to score or atleast advance on the opp.

RL examples: Steven Gerrard as playmaker, Crouch for tall target, Torres for quick target.

No it's not. The role of the playmaker is to dictate the pace of the game and create chances for the front men and is often deployed in the hole behind the striker or in CM.

Where as target man does bring people into play via flick ons or holding the ball of and playing short lay-offs.
