It depends if you start with a club of your choice or start unemployed. If you start with A club of your chocie, the higher the reputation you choose the more the board will expect from you. Also lower rep managers, such as automatic background, may be unpopular at big clubs as the fans want a more experienced manager.
If you start unemployed then it will effect the team's interested in hiring you when you start the game. Using england as an example, if you start automatic it is very unlikely you will get a premiership or championship job, and will probably end up in the conference or conference N/S. If you have higher reputation, like ex-international, you will probably be able to get the top jobs, maybe even one of the top 4 as your first job.
