I know this will probably be a 'no' but is there any way to make the Basque national team active without crashing the game?

Give them a continent... it is possible for it to be europe, but you would have to set up several clubs to be basque nation otherwise it will crash when it comes to entering clubs into europe.

I thought that might be it, but when I've tried to do things like that in the past (I tried to make the GB team work) you find yourself entered into the Euro Championship Qualifiers, but without fixtures...

That's just for euro2008, as the draw has already been made, fixtures work correctly for world cup 2010 qualifying and onwards.

Remember to set the region, stadium etc. for basque as well.

The easiest way to do it is replace Montenegro with them, as they're not drawn for Euro 08.

There is no need to replace a nation, just "replace" C.I.S as they have no relevance (not even history!)

woops my bad, I meant, just use the current Basque country in the game! far easier, otherwise you have to swap all those basque players around and athletic wont work!

But if you don't want to cause errors in the UEFA rankings, it's needed to replace a team that's currently in Europe, and I suggested Montenegro, as they're not drawn for Euro 08 anyway.

So what would you do with Montenegro? Make them Asian or something?

I'm not sure about how that would work, really. I made them not have a continent.

I also just moved Basque clubs in the Spanish lower divisions into Pays Basque for the added realism. Because of the Europe thing, though, I couldn't get everything to work properly, and I gave up. It's pretty easy to do, but just haven't got the patience.
