i was wondering what are the good things to say to your team before after and in the middle of a game and also if you are winning losing drawing or have already won lost or drew
what a question! you want to know everything there is about the team talk. i usually try to stick to my own personality, and select an option which i would choose had it been a real life situation. on some occasions, however i find myself asking: what would alex ferguson do? morale is a good indicator as well of what to select. if everyone is superb, you can afford to belittle them if you are trailing etc...
really, there may not be a perfect answer to this question, but i believe that a search can help you.
if you're not sure what implications the different options bring, just think of them literally.
I used to let my ass. man. take care of them, but I've recently started looking at them myself.
My usual approach is to "wish luck" if not favourites, "you can win" if we are favourites and then play it from there.
At half time, if things are going ok I say I'm pleased, if not I encourage if I wasn't favourites, dissapointed if I was.
Then it's catering to individuals. I find players with low morale respond well to "you have faith", especially the youngsters, or if there's a player that's really down or just back from injury, tell them "the pressure's off". If their form isn't great, but their morale's pretty good, I usually "expect a performance".
At full time, I'm usually pleased or sympathetic, except I'm disappointed with anyone playing a 6 and angry with anyone playing a 5.
I do think a guide is needed about team talks, however. There are some good threads in the Bible, but I think it's down to the individual how to handle it. Your ass. man. will tell you if your talks are having a bad effect on the team.
before game:
-if you're favourite: "i expext a win"
"you can win this"
-if not favourite: : "enjoy the game"
"you can win this"
in half time:
-if you're loosing: "where's the passion"
"i expect you to perform
much better"
-if draw: encourage, if someone's rating is 8, tell him: "pleased", or 9-10: "delighted".
-if winning: "pleased", if someone's rating is 9 or 10: say "delighted" to him.
AWAY
before game: "wish luck" or "enjoy the game"
half time: if loosing, or draw : "encourage"
the rest is the same as home.
I used to do the team talks myself but since i got a AssMan with 20 motivation I decided to let him do it.
Something i discovered which may or may not have been posted but after a match if you click on the Assistant Advice - Team talk feedback and view you will get a drop down menu detailing what was said Pre-Match, Half Time and Full Time. He seems to use "Do it for the Fans" more often than the advised local derbies etc. as we are doing ok at the moment I will let it be and check it after every game in order to build up an idea of his approach and more importantly if it works.
