It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Sorry 'bout that...

But Bootcamp is mainly my "secret" pre-season training

Cheers, R.

Asmodeus. one question so far regarding your training schedule for GK. i pretty much had the same schedule you had, but then went to thinking. Wouldn't goalkeepers need defensive training? isnt concentration necessary for a goalkeeper? No?

When you pick an outfield player and go to his training history, you can select every available category, except for goalkeeping, meaning that category doesnt apply to outfield players.

Similarly, when you check the training history of goalkeepers, you can only select strength, aerobic, tactic, goalkeeping, ball control and set pieces, leading me to believe that training those other category isnt viable.

Likewise, when you dont train the goalkeepers for defending, their concentration does not drop at all (if it doesnt actually rise one point..). When you dont train a player in a category that does apply to them, their stats will plumet by three points eventually.

Moving into the training game, Asmo? When I'm finally able to play '07 I'm sure going to print this out. Great thread!

sounds excellent in theory Asmo, but I just dont know what it is with FM07, the attributes just keep dropping

have set up my training very similar to yours with a few changes and have maybe about 5 categories on 5* and the rest 4*

I noticed something that was especially startling. I had my wingers on medium to high for attacking, set pieces and shooting but then i noticed that none of these were going up so decided to focus on one of them at a time. dropped shooting and set pieces by 2 each and pushed up attacking by 4. in a week all the shooting and set pieces attributes had gone down (these were still well above medium) and the attacking attributes (now on high) hadnt changed. and its remained that way since. now im scared to even do anything.

any ideas?

But be aware that in last year's game and its predecessor, training was allowed to change a player's attributes to the point of rendering CA pointless, and this has been reigned in for FM2007. If your player's CA is already as high as his PA, then he cant improve, instead you can only keep him at the level he is, or reshape his attribute balance within those constraints via specialist training.

Paul

This does suggest one thing to me, once a player hits his CA peak, you'd need to change his training....so if a player plateaus..then you need to tweak it...hmm

Good thread, a training discussion is always welcome. I am wondering at which overall workload your training schedules are on? Cleon you had good results with a heavy workload. How heavy is it?

I had good results with the overall workload being the the most intensive medium setting(For 1st/res and youths). This makes the players increase their stats and the amount of injuries are low. The players last all season without being jaded as well.

I was considering training them harder though, as with the current overall intensity the different schedule would be very tailored to the which position is trained. There is no way all categories can be trained. Therefore the most important categories for the position gets the priority.

The workload for Strenght and Aerobic is set to the middle notch of medium. Quite satiesfied with this even if it takes a big bite of the overall workload available. The players improve on the physical attributes. This intensity for Strenght/Aerobic doesn`t tire your players out. It is sufficient enough for the players reaching 100%-95% condition between mathces, even if just a couple of days between the matches. What have you experienced regarding the intensity of physical training.

Also whilst playing different savegames to create tactics, the best defensive records were acchieved when the defenders and the DMC were set to intensive tactical training. Also the offside trap worked better. This intensity for tactical training has no risk of increasing injuries.

I am still trying to find the best balance for the overall workload, further discussion is welcomed regarding this.

I haven't seen a rise in injuries between the workload I'm currently using: one notch below very heavy and the workload I used to use: one notch below heavy.

the heavy workload might still be counter productive if some of the players get unhappy with their training schedules (which Im sure some must be at one notch below very heavy)
