im currently Liverpool and having real problems keeping possession.

im still top of league but am finding if i could keep possession i would be much happier.

not sure whether passing shud be direct which it is currently or short?

any help would be appreciated

Don't worry too much about possession if you are playing direct football. As long as You are scoring goals and have a high shots on target ratio then this is fine.

There are plently examples of people posting that they are dominating the possesion but not scoring, so I think you are in a better situation to begin with.

If you are Liverpool then I would recommend playing short passing, just because you will have the quality of player able to do it well.

All team strive to play the beautiful game, they just aren't always bless with the players that can do it accurately enough.

I find the best way to play with Liverpool (and any other top quality team) is a Short to Mixed Passing style with variation on the tempo depending on the opposition and circumstances (home or away, europe, big games etc.)

Personally, I like a short quick passing style as Liverpool's players have the quality to pull this off. Although you can try slowing it up for home games against inferior opposition.

Also vary the amount of closing down, if you prefer to use a global closing down system I'd advise less closing down at home and more away.
