As a keen Tottenham fan, following them since going to my first game back in 1977 at home to Swindon, I've seen so many changes at Tottenham, so many managers, so many different tactics and formations played, with the most exciting in my opinion being David Pleats 4-5-1 back in 1987. We weren't great defenciviely, but going forward, we looked so dangerous, always getting men in the box, plenty of movement from the players.
The lineup was..
GK - Ray Clemence
DR - Hughton/Stevens
LD - Mitchell Thomas
CD - Gary Mabbutt
CD - Richard Gough
RM - Paul Allen
LM - Steve Hodge
CM - Glenn Hoddle
CM - Ossie Ardiles
AM - Chris Waddle (Free role)
ST - Clive Allen
That was the season that Clive Allen had a freak spell, scoring 49 goals in one season playing as the lone striker.
How many people remember this tactic?
Now, from what I remember of it, Ardiles and Hoddle used to dictate the play from midfield, pulling all the strings. Chris Waddle, he had no role, he had the license to do whatever the hell he wanted, and he did with great success. Paul Allen and Steve Hodge, they used to cut inside and get into defencive positions allowing Hoddle, Waddle and Ossie to roam forward, with Hughton and Thomas bombimg forward whenever they got the opportunity.
It was a successful season, finishing 3rd or 4th (can't remember, though it was very high), League cup semi finalists (the days that this trophy meant something) and FA Cup finalists, losing in a classic game to Coventry.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to make this tactic on FM?
