SamCCFC,
I am not pretending to give the solution, but what works for me in about 75% of the time.
First, I never put Time Wasting up. When the opposition is pressing you, your defenders or GK usually have the ball. It seems like when Time Wasting is up, defenders dial on ball till the last moment, and every second pass goes to opposition giving it more chances.
So time wasting is between rarely and normal. Focus passing down both flanks, tempo slow, width between narrow and normal. Set DCs to direct or even long passing so that they clear thee ball out of your box without hesitation (opposition will need to start attack over = time wasting, and you may ocasionally score on break). Mentality between defensive and normal (I never go too defensive as it seems to give more chances to AI). Close down rarely to mixed, no tight marking. Remove farrows from your wingers (if they have ones). If defensive line is up or normal, put it a bit down (2-3 notches to the left from the middle). Finally, if you don't usually use DM - put one of MCs to DM position to have someone pick up loose ball. Hope it helps.
