getting my attacking midfielder more involved in the game.
Ive got a great AMC playing a 4-4-2 diamond. Ive selected him as playmaker and set team instructions to use plamaker but he isn't getting involved in the game enough for me.
What palyer instructions should i use to get him more involved?

if you can imagine him having a good freerole rating.. give him that... think about maybe setting ur strikers with farrows going to the sides as in <---0 0--->

I had the same problem with Van der Vaart in the AM in the diamond formation.
He was not involved enough into play. I decided to place him on the central midfield position with an arrow toward the (old) AM position.
It meant that he had the play before him, not behind him. It worked very good for me. He got the award midfielder of the year.

Jeffs idea is good, some AMC likes that better. You could also try a backward arrow to the MC position, that usually also works. You can also play with rare forward runs etc. Its probably the most difficult position to make work, but its the same in real life football.
its also good if that AMC can be freekick taker or corner taker so he get involved.

my AM wasnt getting involved either. so i gave him a free role and put 'runs with ball' often, so that when he did get the ball i knew he'd do something with it. ended up gettin about 20 goals and 20 assists in the first season
i dont like using the AM as a playmaker as he's too far ahead of play. well, its good for counter attacking teams if you play direct. in my formations now, i like to have the DM as playmaker so he can spread the play, and i want my AM to score more rather than create
