Scunthorpe United F.C. are an English football team based in the town of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, England.
Nicknamed The Iron, they currently play in the Football League Championship after securing promotion by winning the League One title in the 2006-07 season. They are presently the highest-placed league club in Lincolnshire but have not previously played at this level since the 1962-63 season.
One of the most famous players to ever play for Scunthorpe early in his career was former England and Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan. He made 120 apperances for the club before leaving to Liverpool for a cheap £35,000 on 10th May 1971.
Another well-known ex-Scunny player 'Super' Ray Clemence. His first ever club was indeed Scunthorpe before being snapped up by none other than Liverpool. He went onto become one of footballs most decorated goalkeepers ever.

Transfer/Wage Budget
For a newly promoted side the transfer budget isn't too bad, especially with a few adjustments here and there.
Then on top of that you can adjust the transfer budget up to £300K. With expectations, be realistic, the higher you expect, the more cash. But the more risk of sacking if you don't achieve your goals. Personally i'd for for Mid-Table/Top-Half Finish anything higher would be a bonus.

Analysis
If you want a real challange Scunthrope is the team to try. While having quite a strong defence, and an average midfield the attack lacks a certain amount. With only 2 natural strikers in the team the place to first buy in will be offense. I recommend a player such as Kevin Kyle cheap, and will bag you some goals, or possibly Leyton Orient striker Jabo Ibehre who can be bough for under £500K and so i've heard is a good player for low rep Championship clubs, another player who I think will be one for the future is Ipswich striker Matty Fryatt who for the right money will take the switch. I'd also concentrate on getting a good central midfielder, a worthy candidate could be Patrik Berger old but if you can get him will be a great asset.
Overall, Scunthorpe United will be a tough go ahead and one which will take a few game years until you crack it completely. But come on, real men like a challenge right? Give it a try, I will be starting my new game with 'The Iron' some time today, and hope to be successful as I did in FM07.
Keep me informed on your stats!

I love being scunthorpe man, they have a great base team to work with. Won the championship after signing Mohammed Kalon and Jody Morris (Both frees) banged in 35 goals between them. Marcus Williams had a great season and i got to round Three of Carling Cup and the FA Cup, their are some great free transfers to be had. Nab 'em!

I started mine a day ago. So far not so good. My team is great but the results arent. I am hoping this season to just stay up and work from there. Ill put up my team later...
