I know everybody loves him, myself included, I think he's the poor man's Silva.
Now, the question is: How do you play him?
I play a 4-3-3/4-5-1 and I use him in a CM position. I set both wingers and CF to forward runs mixed and both CM to forward runs often so they are splitting the defense and can receive passes from the CF, wingers, and DM and make things happen (Emre is my other CM)
No, what instructions do you personally use for Fernandez?
I set his creative freedom fairly high. Forward runs often, long shots often, run with ball ofte, and the others mixed.
What do you do to get the best out of him. I assume a lot of people on this board own him, he's cheap (relatively) and talented.
Well, I like him there, he scored some beautiful goals for me and made s lot of plays.
Unfortunately, I'm using Newcastle United so I'm short of CM players and I like having him there because there's generally more space. I may move him to the left after I build more of my team up, but it's really weak in the middle.
I'm more interested in hearing what individual setting you give him to get the most out of his ability.
I play him at AMC mostly, somtimes at MC. I have him on attacking and creative freedom much, short passing, closing down slightly less than the middle, foward runs on often, run with ball mixed, long shots rarely (he still bangs in beauties all the time), through balls & cross ball on mixed. You may want to set through balls on often if you have fast strikers. I also give him a free role, and scores at an incredible rate.
