Default Bloody Hell; It's Cold Here!

After getting acquainted to FM2006, I sought out Frank for a team to start a new career with. He picked out Sleipner who play in the Swedish Second Division East Svealand.

All divisions in Sweden (Premier, First Division Elite and 6 Second Divisions), Bulgaria ("A" and 2 "B" Divisions) and Denmark (First and Premier divisions) loaded up. Normal DB, all leagues normal detail.

2005 (It's a summer competition from April to September) Sleipner - 2nd Div ES
A quick glance at the club yields the following information:
<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>Semi Pro club with 21000 (12000 seat) capacity stadium with under soil heating
<LI>Fairly basic facilities
<LI>27 truly awful players in 3 teams (U18, reserves and firsts), all P/T
<LI>Wage budget £10.5k per month, currently £1k over
<LI>Board expecting safe mid table position</UL>

On to the football
<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>An utter crap season, finishing 10th out of 12 and avoiding relegation by 4 points in the second last game
<LI>Knocked out of the cup in the first round
<LI>Top scorer bagged 10 of the 19 we scored even though he only played 14/22 games
<LI>Final Tally 5W, 6D, 11L, -15GD, 21 points
<LI>Vasalund/Essinge won the division
<LI>IFK Goterborg won the Premier Division
<LI>Gefle won the Swedish Cup</UL>

Close season
<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>Well I've got 6 months to kill and plenty of trading to be done
<LI>Sold 12 players for a total of £100k and bought 9 for £25k</UL>

Side Note
For those that know Sweden will know the rules change at the end of season 2005. There is a new division (First Division North and South) in between the Second Divisions and First Division Elite. Second Division sides now need to win the league to get promoted.

...more to come!

2006 Sleipner - 2nd Div MG (That's right we've moved into Middle Gotalund)
Board and fans are expecting a top half position and are dissapointed with last year's result.
After the trading over winter the wage budge is now under, which is nice.

The season
<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>AFter winning the first match 6-2, we go on a pretty ordinary run
<LI>The board feel compelled to note their displeasure at the way we are travelling which prompts a form reversal and we win the next game 5-0
<LI>Eventually finish in 3rd, 9 points off the lead
<LI>Final Tally 12W, 5D, 5L, +24GD, 41 points
<LI>Norrby won the division with a GD of +41
<LI>IFK Goterborg won the Premier Division (again)
<LI>Elfsborg won the Swedish Cup</UL>
World Cup
<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>Sweden beat Brazil on the way to a semi-final loss
<LI>Greece beat Italy in the Final</UL>
Odd Stuff
<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>For many games 6 of the starting 11 were u20, with four 16 year olds
<LI>The players reported back for training on Monday 25 December </UL>
Close Season
<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>Sold the fans player of the year, a 17yo Striker, who I poached as a youth for £5k 12 months earlier for £250k up front plus £30k per month for 2 years  to top flight Helsingborg. The fans of Helsingborg praised their manager for such an astute signing. Sorted out my financial worries for a couple of years
<LI>A quality D/MR was sold to a First Division Elite side and he stated he was sad to be leaving as his former boss offered a lot of support
<LI>The wage budget is now £9.5kpm and we are just over with a total of 19 players signed at the club </UL>
<LI>6 players out for £1.1M, 3 in for £18k

2007 Sleipner - 2nd Div MG
The board are hoping for a comfortable mid table position. I'm hoping for promotion after last years good finish.
We're back in the Swedish Cup (coutesy of last years league position, I assume)
Signed up a couple of players to full time contracts to try to bring some professionalism into the squad.
Let's get it on
<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>Thanks to a good cup run the start of the season sees the first 5 matches in 17 days, of which we win 5 and draw 1 with 7 different goal scorers
<LI>We eventually reach the fourth round of the cup losing at home to top flight Oster 1-0 in front of a record crowd of 1679
<LI>As for the league we were situated 2nd, 2 points of the lead and 3 points in front of 4th with 4 matches to go (including 2 of the top four). To cut a long story short we lost the big 2 and won the other 2 to finish 3rd. If we'd beaten champions, Husqvarna, we'd have won the league
<LI>Final Tally 14W, 4D, 4L +14GD, 46 points
<LI>IFK Goterborg won the Premier Division (again)
<LI>AIK won the Swedish Cup</UL>
Odd Stuff
<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>After defeat in the cup my players morale dropped to poor or worse. This despite being the only D2 side in the fourth round, playing in front of a record crowd against a team 3 division higher and not embarassing themselves SORTITOUTSI ... we won the next match 4-2 though
<LI>The media comments seem a bit screwed, presumably because of the season timing. It talks about player achievements in the past tense, so and so hit 4 goals last term. Yeah, the season's only 3 games old </UL>
Close Season
<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>17yo ex-striker has made 9 first team appearances at Helsingborg and is capped at u19 level
<LI>Installed a DC who was 'unclear about his role in the team' as captain. Are you sure what your role is now, mate
<LI>3 players in for 0, 2 players out for 0 </UL>

So it's another season in the Second Division Middle Gotalund. The team is starting to take a settled look and the consecutive 3rd placings give some hope for the future.

They killed all the fun
I can't tell you how frustrating it can get to own a division and then lose in promotion playoffs . A real challenge. Now it is just a division like anywhere else.

BTW check Sleipners history. I honestly belive they are ex-top of the top club. I think they were champions or runners up in Swedish Premiership around 1951.
How do I know all this? I played with them in CM03/04.

Wewak sounds like your struggling so I’ll give you a couple of tips. Firstly replace the Metal bench with a wooden bench and get your subs to wear thermal underwear while sitting on it.
