2008 Sleipner - 2nd Div MG
We have an absolutely minimal squad and with the board still blocking transfers due to the wage budget being exceeded, I think we'll be signing greys if we get into injury trouble.
On the plus side, most of the players accepted new 2 year full time deals.
A Season of Beauty

Another fantastic start to the season of 5 starts, 5 wins, 12 for, 1 against had me wondering whether we could keep it up this year.

Well, halfway through the season we were flying with a perfect 11 wins and just 3 goals conceded, so I had a little confidence (and by a little, I mean sh!tloads

)

The second half started poorly with a 1-0 loss to 50-1 outsiders at home

but with such a big lead, 5 wins and a loss in the next 6 games was enough to tie up the title with 4 games to play. Wagherty!@!@!!!!!

The media commitments came thick and fast and throughout I was praising the lads saying they'll have no problems competing next year. One pundit commented that with an average squad age of just 23 we'd struggle next year. Pish, I told him

Board and fans are certain the reason for the success is ... me

Final Tally 19W, 1D, 2L +38, 58 points.

Malmo FF won the Premier Division (nice change)

GAIS won the Swedish Cup

Good News

My 18yo goalkeeper (who has 42 starts with Sleipner for 27 clean sheets :eek

and a new AM RLC/FC were called into the Swedish u19 Squad

Just after promotion was assured the, now capped at u19 level, AM RLC/FC was the subject of a £1M offer  Naturally, I accepted, and a deal was done.

My back 4 started every game this season.

My contract negotiations came up at the right time with success on and off the field. Got a small pay rise, £350k transfer budget and a nearly tripled wage budget of £28k pm. Also negotiated an upgrade of the training facilities into the deal. It was completed over winter.

Close Season

First job was to put the cleaners through the back room staff. Fortunately many were coming up for contract renewal, so I sacked 5 of them. Ooooh, it felt good

Replaced them with 2 coaches and 2 physios.

4 players went out for a cool million  and 10 were brought in for £19k

Two 16 yo kids promoted to the u18s, bring my total signed players up to 29. Still £10k under wage budget.

Odd Stuff

Just noticed a player who I've been watching return from loan. So I put a loan bid in for him and get the "club are not willing to loan out player due to his first team commitments" comment

No matches will be played for about 5 months and the board is dissapointed with the team's performance this season. Presumably because we are near the bottom courtesy of 'S' being near the end of the alphabet

Well, after one of the best seasons I've ever had, it's up, up and away with Sleipner IK
The update has now caught to my save
