I'm totally and utterly sick of the "aquaplaning" part of it, when absolutely nothing you do has any effect on results and you'll lose and draw until the game decides it's time for you to win again, and I'm completely sick of the first game after restarting a save the following day and losing or drawing your first game of the session and starting an "aquaplane" (although that happened from the CM days).
Couple to that the games you lose or draw when you totally outplay and outshoot your opposition (linked to the "aquaplaning" part), and it's getting me down.
I never thought I'd see the day dawn (CM4 excluded).
I've always just accepted this as part of the game being a fair relection of RL. One day you will inevitably lose a match and the confidence takes a knock and you lose/draw the next couple until you get a fixture that you win and the confidence gets back up again. I can say from being a Liverpool fan that it definitely happens in RL as well. Just as playing fine against the top teams but struggling against the bottom teams also obviously happens in RL ('boro').
What I do find frustrating is that the game seems to "lose" your form when you quit as you said. I always find the best way to end a losing streak is to turn off the game for a bit and of xure the opposite is true too. Whether or not this is just superstition I don't know.
The only place you'd get what I'm talking about as "fair reflection" is in a Hall of Mirrors, tbh.
The "aquaplaning" I refer to means that it doesn't matter which personnel you use, which tactics, which formation, which instructions, you're going to lose regardless, even when you outperform, outshoot and completely outplay the opposition.
I'll tell you something else, it normally applies only in the League.
If you're in the EPL, playing in the Champions' Cup, you may be skinning Barca and Juve in the CL, but you still aquaplane in the League in between games.
We just played Wolves, 2nd place, and beat them soundly. Next game's against Wigan, 18th place, and I know the game will penalise me for the victory over Wolves.
I don't deny that's the case, I'm a Hearts supporter after all...but the thing that gets me is I can tell you exactly when I'm going to get duff results (like that one I just posted), I'm 20-odd seasons into my current save and it's happened every single season, with every single team.
If this did reflect real life fairly I'd be winning a fortune on fixed-odds coupons every week.
I do see your point and I have to admit that occasionally I get the same thing. You just know that you'll lose a match, no matter what. I'm not sure for the reasoning for this as it's obviously not intended by SI. One thing I can say for sure is that it isn't just the game trying to slow down ones success as it is possible to hae an unbeaten season without cheating (not that I've done it).
