In fact, most of the referees have been an abortion.

Another shocking refereeing decision.
I applaud FIFA for their Equal Opps policy, but could they not have waited until after the World Cup to let the learning difficulties/blind folk try refereeing?

I agree Turnip. Hardly improves Italy's reputation for cheating either does it? I knew it was going to happen. I thought "He's going to fall over without being touched and the ref will award a penalty."
I'm outraged and I'm not an Aussie. I hope they raise a holy stink about this, not that it will change anything.

I suspect Italy will use the excuse of 'We got shafted 4 years ago, it's only fair we do it back'.
Which is what we've got used to over the course of a tournament that's shown us almost NO good football whatsoever. I've seen only 2 matches I would describe as worth my time: Ghana vs Czechia and Mexico vs Argie. Neither match spoiled by inexcusable cheating or useless refereeing.

I disagree (as discussed elsewhere) and think it was a penalty. It was foolish from Neill and I don't think it was a dive.
The mistake came on the red card which was absolutely not a rstraight red.

It was a bad penalty call, but the red to the Italian bloke was harsh, and we failed to take advantage. By now we expect nothing else from the ref's so it is pointless to complain.
I'm completely bummed that the new Chelski bloke is out for Ghana, if they could recapture their form they showed v the Czechs I actually think they could cause a massive upset (although I'm probably alone on that one).

As I tuned in later I can't comment on the red card. I did watch the "penalty event" though and tend to side with those who disagree that it was a penalty. Reading some comments on Dutch websites and there is a general consensus that it wasn't a penalty.
About the red card I haven't found a single Dutch source who disagrees about that.
And yes the Dutch might be biased towards the Aussies but with even less reason to be biased as you Devon to root for the Italians.

All I can say at least the referring for the tournament has been consistant. Crap!!!Hard to pick which referee was worse the guy in charge of Aus V Ita or the clown in charge of Port v Holland.
